Invitation Letter for Singapore vacation December 8, 2009

One of my friends posted something in Facebook about his friend having been denied to go to Singapore in DMIA, Clark when he failed to produce an Invitation Letter with Seal from Philippine Embassy in Singapore in a closed envelope. Some commented that there's such a thing. Here's what i did to get one:

Philippine Embassy
Office Hours: SUN - THU 9am-12pm and 1:30pm-5pm

Bring
- IC or EPASS or SPASS
- Your Passport
- Pen
- Photocopy of Passport (the page with ID)
- Copy of Passport of visitor
- Age (this would be in handy in filling-up the form)

I went on Sunday around 1:30PM and there were a lot of people outside. They were controlling the people coming in already since it's jammed packed inside. Just inform the guard that your purpose is for notarization only. They only control the Passport application and renewals.

There's a guard house to the right where everyone needs to register however when i told them that i just came to get a notarized invitation letter he just pointed me towards Window 5 so if you want once you're in just go directly to Window 5.

They're just 5 of us in the line at first. When it's my turn i told the officer i want to get the notarized application form. He asked me for whom and i said for my Wife's cousin whose visiting. I guess they just want to make sure that it's really for vacation purposes.

He gave me an Affidavit form and pointed me to the long table at the back. There are sample forms posted in the table (For invitation letter, for affidavit of loss, etc.)

Once I'm done i went to Window 5 again. He checked then told me to go to Window 9 for payment. The amount is S$42.50. I brought the form with attached receipt back to Window 5 and waited for my name to be called. That's it. Just make sure the form has a red seal and it's really yours.

UPDATE 30Dec2011: A comment from jcam

Jel,,salamat sa mga infos.. merry xmas and happy new year to everyone..

Hi Jasmin,

Unfortunately no. You can check with Philippine Embassy in Singapore or DFA or POEA in PH. Does she also have an agency in PH? Usually Maids are hired by an Employment agency in PH then there will be another agency in SG.
Does your sister or the employer have documents or contracts?

Hi, I am a Registered Nurse in the Philippines and is currently working as a Private Duty Nurse in the country. My 1st degree cousin invited me to visit Sg for a 1 week vacation and is willing to send the invitation letter. However, I learned from others that nurses who travel are held in doubt and are most often denied. Much as I like to travel and see Sg, I don't want to waste my money in air tickets after being refused entry. I do not have any company ID since I am a private duty nurse. I would like to ask if what other IDs/documents are needed to show that I am indeed just going to Sg as a tourist.

Hi Jel

I emailed Phil embassy in SG asking about IL expiration date. Here's the reply:

Please be informed that in general, affidavits acknowledged by the Embassy are valid for six (6) months from the date of issuance. The Affidavit of Invitation is good for one time use only.

Thank you for writing the Embassy.

I would suggest you bring a certificate of employment and just explain that your a private duty nurse so you have no employee id but only if you were asked by IO. Dont show anything unless you were asked to.

You may want to bring a copy of your employer's credentials as a proof. At least you can ask your employer to vouch for you. A better way is if you have a letter from your employer vouching for you. If IO gives you a hard time then you can show the letter. If IO asked why you have such letter then you say because you heard that IO are discriminating against our Nurses as if you don't have a right to have a vacation outside PH. You guys put up a lot of hours and sh*t and you don't deserve that kind of treatment.

That's great Shem! I'll create a post for this.

Hello.. Me again.. This comin monday na yung trip namin for sg, me and my friend.. Ask ko lang, if is there any chance na isa lang sa amin ma approve? We do have authenticated IL frm her uncle.. Thanks again..

Jel said...

Hi Gracy,

I would be lying if i said there's no chance at all. You just have to trust yourself that you've done all that you can to ensure a smooth travel.

Hi Jel, I went to Sg last June 10 then went home to the Phils July 10. I did not search for work, I just went there to tend to my fiance' he was really sick.

So I stayed there for a month, when I'll be able to go back? Is there an interval in going there, like a policy on when to revisit the country? since I consumed the 30 day Social visit pass, I should go back 2 months after or something of that sort....

Thank you.

Jel said...

I'm not aware or heard of that kind of policy. As long as you have money or you can justify to the IO why you're coming back immediately then i don't see any problem.

Hi Jel!:) Me(23yrs.old) and my daughter(3yrs.old) going to sg this coming weekend to visit My husband who's working there, were staying 30days our usually Doing. This is our 4th time in two years. I'm not working even then, I read earlier about Policy issues (nervous) What I really need to bring? Passport, Birthcert of my daughter and me, Is it ok if Ordinary Invitation only (As I have read lately)?? hmm ok lang daw kc asawa ko naman at daddy naman ng anak ko pupuntahan namin dun.

Jel said...

Try to bring your Marriage Cert and a copy of your Husband's work pass. Sorry but it really depends on the IO you'll encounter.

Hi Jel,
Im chona, i just want to ask what is the best thing to do when going to Sg cause my friend inviting me to go there with all of his expense He is Australian and he is working in SG. we plan that my departure is on Aug 1 i will visit SG in just 1 week only. So, anyway, i told him about the IL he said to me that he can give simple IL then send it to me tru email is that okey? Is the OI wont question me regarding this matter? anyway, i much is the red tape anyway so if ever encountering problems i can jst give them so i can leave? How much do i need for a show money?

Jel said...

Hi Chona,

Well ideally for Women travelling alone it's better to have an authenticated IL but i think it would be to presumptuous for you to ask your friend to bother him to go to our Embassy and wait for how long to get an authenticated IL. So i guess that IL is enough. Also ask your friend to send a scanned copy of his Work pass for proof since IO are watching out for potential human trafficking scenarios. Bring also some proff of your previous relationship like photos.

When you say "give them" do you mean "lagay"? I can't advice you on that, sorry. For the show money i don't have experience on that. See other readers comments instead.

Jel said...

Pag nakuha na nya yung Invitation Letter i-pafedex or LBC mo yung document sayo.

hi jel,

really great blog you have here. in fairness mas helpful ka pa sa government natin a, very helpful sa mga Pinoy na gustong magtrabaho sa SG.

1. name of friend/relative who works in SG (ex. Juan)
2. Juan will promise that you (traveller from Philippines) will stay at his house
3. he will also promise that he will shoulder all of your expenses
4. he will also promise that you will not seek employment in SG
5. he will also you will not break any SG laws

next month kasi pupunta kami ng boyfriend ko sa SG (we're both first-timers), 2 weeks yung RT namin. punta kami around a week before the F1 events begin. purpose of our travel is tour, F1, and (hopefully) land job interviews for future employment. we're still employed, so we'll have our company ID's with us. para sure na wala ng itanong sa 'min yung IO, isip ko magpagawa ng IL either sa friend or pinsan ko na matagal nang nagtatrabaho sa SG. question:

(tour, F1, except syempre yung interview part) medyo diskumpyado lang ako kasi 2 weeks yung RT namin, mahigpit daw lately yung IO natin e...
3. what exactly did you write sa invitation letter na ginawa mo for your friend? :)

ayun lang naman. ang hirap lang kasi as much as possible ayokong magsinungaling, saka ayoko ring gawing sinungaling yung pinsan/friend ko sa SG. baka lalo kaming mahirapan pag pina-explain sa 'min yung set-up. heeeelp :(

Jel said...

Thanks a lot. You can help me by helping others as well.

Regarding sa content ng IL, may template na ibibigay sa Philippine Embassy here in Singapore so you don't need to worry about that. Whoever "invited" you will need to fill-up his information there.

1. Well to me mas kahinahinala na sasagutin lahat ng pinsan mo yung tour at F1 tickets nyo dba. Then if you're going to see F1 i assume you already have the tickets with you?
2. Well BF and GF naman kyo e, you really can't say kasi depende sa IO na maeencoutner nyo dun. All you can do is do your best to prepare the requirements.
3. As i've said my template dun so information lang like your name, address, etc. ang ilalagay mo na lang dun. You really don't have a choice sa content since standard sa lahat yun.

For the last part the IO will not call your cousin.
3.

He Jel,

What if pupunta ka ng SG na naka fun tour/package return ticket plus hotel, need pa mag IL?

Pero I want to go alone, I have friends there pero malayo sila sa city area, so magbobook n lng ako ng hotel from here sa Phils. ok ba yun?

this is my 2nd time travelling alone sa SG, yung first time, nagstay ako dun sa friend ko, pinadalhan nya ako IL, pero grabeng hassle yun for him kasi ang haba ng pila daw.

SO ok bang mag package tour n lg para walang hassle sa IL etc, acceptable ba yun isa IO? d nmn ako maghahanap work dun, mag totour ako ulit w/ my other group of friends pero di kmi mgkakasama pupunta..

thank you.

God bless to you and your family.

Jel said...

Sam,
Package tour is better.

hi jel, here's my situation. i purchased a round trip ticket good for one month. gusto ko lang mag visit sa tita ko at xempre mag tour around singapore. my tita will provide me an invitation letter from the embassy and a copy of her passport. but im currently not employed. pero my show money ako na $400-500. will i find any problem sa immigrations?

Jel said...

I really can't say if you'll encounter any problems. Just bring any docs that you may think might come in handy but don't, i repeat, don't show any docs unless you were asked by the IO. Just tell the truth and you'll be fine and don't get intimidated but be respectful.

Hi Jel!

Your site is indeed helpful to aspiring Pinoys who are planning to visit SG (tour or Job hunting). I would like to ask some things though parang nabasa ko na sa site mo almost lahat pero magatatnong pa rin ako.  I am planning to visit SG by Late September or early October to look for HR jobs. I have a 1st degree cousin who works in Sentosa but currently in the Philippines for her maternity leave. She will be back in SG on Oct 16. However, her husband who works as a Jr. scientist in maccine ( I hope I got the name right ) went back there yesterday and told me that he can give me an Invitation letter. Would my chance of getting a 30 day social visit pass be greater if I’ll be given an IL? I would also like to ask if the authenticated IL is required or just a simple IL will do? My cousin told me that when she went there, her husband just gave her a simple IL that is why she was not aware with the authentication of the IL. I know that you can help me on this.

Thank you! You are such a blessing!!

Jel said...

The 30 days will be up to the SG IO and typically there will be no problem here.

Regarding the IL it's more of insurance. You may or may not use it. I can't decide that for you. If you want my opinion personally i would go with Authenticated IL if i can get it. For those who don't have any friends or relatives in SG then don't get any IL at all.

nickyikayerz said...

Thank you for your response jel. :0

Fine with the Invitation Letter. But why do we have to pay $42 for a piece of paper? Where will that money go?

Why also do we have to pay for the traveler's tax which is around $100?

I really can't understand why we have to.

It's sad to be a Filipino. That's all i can say. Instead of supporting and helping each other, we instead envy and devour each other. So Sad...

hi jel!

your blog is really helpful!:)

here's my situation: sept5-oct2 yung ticket ko. magkakaproblema ba ako sa immigrations? my family friend sent me a copy of his passport and epass and as well as an IL. im not interested to find a job naman dun eh. gusto ko lang mag tour ng SG.
i am currently employed as a nurse and i have a company ID to show. kaya lg ung pocket money na mpapakita ko is only $500 and nka state dun sa IL nang family friend ko na "Ms. X (me) will be supporting herself financially at the duration of her stay."
is this a bad statement sa IL?
im super duper worried coz 27 days ung itineraray ko for my round trip ticket. bka mag suspect ung IO na mag find ako ng job dun.
tpos mag.isa lang akong ppunta dun.
i was thinking na ipa rebook ko yung return ticket ko to make my IT 1week or 2weeks the most pra d ako paghihinalaan. kaya lang gagastos na naman ako. is it necessary na magpa rebook ako?
ksi ung dates for my tiket na sept5-oct 2 ung pinili ko kse promo tiket xa.. . wlang promo tiket dated before oct2...
plz reply to my post. thanks :)

Jel said...

Authenticated IL ba yung ibibigay syo? Kasi kung authenticated yun ang pagkakaalala ko na content nun is ung Nagiinvite ang sasagot sa gastusin at accomodation mo (although syempre most of the time ndi naman sinusunod yun). You family friend need not to worry about this statement in IL kasi they will not check each Pinoy tourist in SG.
Well i think you don't need to re-book. You can even show a letter from your direct manager or supervisor na pinayagan kang mag leave ng 27 days.

About sa pocket money instead na magdala ka kamo ng pesos tpos d2 sa SG papapalitan e ung family friend mo na ang magbibigay syo then instead na magremit yung family friend mo sa Pinas e yung Mother or father mo na lang ang magaabot.

TIPS:
Don't show docs if not asked
Don't be intimidated
Bring supporting docs just in case

Hi Jel!

Magtanong sana ako regarding tickets. For example I am planning to stay for 30 days (to look for a job) then para nakalagay sa return ticket ko ay 2 weeks after my arrival in SG (say I left Phils on Oct 16 then Oct 30 yun return ticket ko) then sa IL ko naka-state na 30 days nga ako , magkakaron ba ng conflict with the Immigration both here and in Sg?

Salamat bro!

Jel said...

It's seldom that the SG IO will ask for IL. So sa PH IO lang magkakaconflict. If you want to take the chance that's really your choice. Yes you heard right, SG has no problems granting visit pass.

nickikayerz said...

Hi bro!

Is it possible to land a job in Sg while employed pa dito sa Phils.? for example mag leave lang sa work dito satin. and I've read by january daw maghihigpit na ang SG for foreigners, like dapat S$3000 and income para mabigyan ng working permit .Please give us a background on this. Salamat po!

Jel said...

Well it depends kung anong Industry ang hinahanap mo.

nickikayerz said...

Human Resource sana bro! I've been working in HR for roughly 3 years na (RECRUITMENT AND PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT) sana may chance makahanp ng work sa HR jan. :) How bout dun sa sinsabing maghihigpit na ang SG sa pag-hire ng foreigners by January, paki-update naman po kame.

Jel said...

Try to search HR jobs in Jobsdb, jobstreet sg or monster kung nagaaccept sila ng Foreigner. Kung may nakalagay na Singapore Citizen or PR your chances are slim.

Hi,Jel,
Pupunta kasi kami ng Singapore next month together with my 2 sisters and 5 yrs old nephew..anak siya ng isa sa mga ate ko na kasama kong aalis.4 days lang stay namin sa singapore at sa kapatid namin kami tutuloy.sa palagay mo magkakaproblem ba kami?wala kaming IL at round trip naman ticket namin via cebu pacific.pero sinend na nung kapatid ko ung pass niya via email.please help naman..hindi rin ba magkakaproblem dun sa batang kasama namin.thank you so much!

Jel said...

Well I rarely see or hear families being denied entry. So I don't think you need an authenticated IL. But please don't blame me if you do :)

Anonymous said...

Jel said...

Well you should've requested an authenticated IL from your Bro to put your mind at ease but if you don't have enough time then a simple IL will do. Wag na lang kyong pasisindak sa IO. As you've said may return ticket naman kyo and 4 days lang duration. I would assume na may mga existing jobs kyo sa Pinas so bring proof of those as well just in case. That's all you can do. Besides that i honestly think na wala namang makakapigil sa inyo na pumuntang singapore kahit sa tingin nyo na may possibility na madeny right? So if i were you don't think about it too much at bka masira lang ang vacation nyo. Enjoy your vacation knowing that you did what you can to prepare. I gauge nyo yung IO na pipilahan nyo. Sometimes it helps.

Anonymous said...

Tnx sa pagsagot..Actually,wala kaming job dito.kakatapos ko lang magwork last may,at wala na sken company id ko.pero ung credit card na ginamit namin sa pagpurchase ng ticket online ay sa akin.wala kaming maipapakita kung hindi ung pass lang ng bro ko at ung address nila dun, syempre tsaka show money.i hope and i pray that would be enough.thank you so much.

Jel said...

Make sure not to bring more than 10k PHP kasi bawal yun. If you need to bring more than that bring your credit card or put it in your handcarry.

Hi Jel,
Your blog is very helpful. I just need some piece of advice. I am planning to go to SG on Sept 26-30 and I already purchased my round trip ticket. I've been in Sg for 3 months from may 18 to aug21, but my stay there is legal. I have online extention and for my third month, I went to Malaysia and go back to SG. I want to go back there to celebrate my birthday on sept28. I am not employed but I can produce some documents to prove that I am employed here in PH. I also ask my fiance to send me IL but not authenticated. Do you think I might encounter some problems in Clark immigration?

Thanks a lot and God bless.

Jel said...

If you're a girl, you might. They might ask you why you're going back and forth to SG in such a short interval. From what i've heard Clark IO's have notorious reputation. Maybe it would help if you had an authenticated IL.

Im thankful that I read ur blog…
Ill be going to Singapore on november for 9 days ALONE since my boyfriend who is currently working there invited me for a vacation (his birthday gift for me) …I already have the two-way ticket ; (nov 3. flight is 7:40pm to nov.13 flight is 12 midnight = good for 9 days and 10 nights including my travel time). But I don’t have an invitation letter yet. Im not planning to work there in SG because im working here in Leyte, my purpose of my travel is for a tour and enjoy my pre-birthday celebration together with my boyfriend.and to also visit him . In fact my boss already approved my Leave in our company.. I know that 9 days is too long, but my boyfriend wanted me to stay longer there for that duration so that we can visit all the places/tourist spots /go shopping there for 2 Saturdays, 1 Sunday and the rest is during nighttime since he is working on daytime….
My question is that is it necessary to have a red seal invitation letter? Or is it ok that the invitation letter is just a simple invitation letter from him?
Do you have an idea how much would it cost for the red seal invitation letter?

Would it be wise to provide an itinerary for my 9 days?

If the invitation is sent by a PR, does the IL still need for an authentication?

I'm really nervous for the immigration official.

hope to hear from you soon since I have only 1 month to prepare..Thanks!

Heidee

Jel said...

Hi Heidee,

I thought the price was mentioned in the blog post? Anyways during that time it was around S$40. I'm not sure how much it is now. Should not change that much.

Yung mga IO natin e walang pakialam kung sino nagbigay ng invitation letter as long as they are working in SG at authenticated ang IL. May mga nakakalusot na ndi authenticated so it's purely your decision if you'll risk it or not.

Hi Jel,

I have read about all the previous post here and I find it very nerve-wracking. I previously worked in SG for 1 year (6 months with TEP + 6 months SPASS) but i had to go back home coz employer is closing down. I din look for a job back there anymore but I met my bf in the same company which is a citizen, were currently in a long distance relationship and we decide to just fly-in whenever we can bec im having a hard time applying and his having his army.

So heres the thing, I went back there just this year (MARCH) for a visit to celebrate our 1st year anniv. i dont have work that time, i dont have invitation with seal from PH Embassy in SG, but just a normal invitation of from him with his IC and signature. I also have a hotel booking in Indonesia and 30k on my pocket, so im confident enough that ill get in because I have all these. My stay in SG is 1 week, and the SG immigration officer just asked me my purpose of stay, and i just said "FOR A VISIT", and she asked if i have work there and i just said "I DONT HAVE". She din asked for all this documents that i have, all I gave her was my passport and ticket and then after that she stamped on my passport and I got in without even looking at the documents that I have.

Now Im planning to visit again because my bf has leave for 1 week, but this time I am not confident coz i dont have that 30k (and hes paying for my stay, but i only have 10k), nor hotel stay at other country but a stay 1 week at their place, im also not getting my invitation letter stamped coz my bf has no time coz he is inside army and i manage to get in last time without it and im thinking of spending it for hotel stay rather than pay for useless stAMp(based on those who posted that they got it but still denied).

My purpose is solely for a visit and not get a job, what do i need to provide :( coz from what i have read, having 30k, credit card and invitation with authenticated stamp isnt enought to prove that you are just a tourist??

help?

Hi milkandwater,

To be honest all we can do is prepare and the rest will depend on the IO you'll encounter. So far you've got everything covered. Just remember to answer as briefly as possible and not get intimidated. Sorry if that doesn't sound any helpful at all.

Hi Ces,

If IO gives you any problems just highlight your past travels. i'm sure nakatatak pa sa passport mo yung mga countries na napuntahan mo.

Anonymous said...

hi Jel,

Thankful talaga ako na me ganitong blog about sa mga pinagdaanan ng mga kababayan natin sa notorious na mga IO. However after reading all the comments kinabahan tuloy ako baka kasi ma offload dn kami eh..

by the way 3 kaming aalis this coming November or end of October, nagpakuha na rin ako ng AIL sa one of our friend na S pass.so with AIL mas Maliit ba ang chance na ma offload pag group tourist?.
nga pala yung dalawang kaibigan ko magtatapos pa lang ngaung October pero nakapunta na sila sa Singapore a year ago kasi dun sila nag OJT ako naman first kong mag travel abroad.

Maitanong ko lang jel mahirap ba maghanap ng computer related na work like computer hardware servicing, web programming and networking? yung mga kakilala ko kasi na anjan eh puro HRM ang field nila kaya wala dn sila masyadong alam kong madali lang bang makahanap ng work sa IT industry.

Me kakilala na kaming Agent jan sa Singapore na makakapagbigay ng work. yun nga lang TEP lang ang kaya niyang ibigay for the mean time tas usually sa restaurant or fnb kami maa-assign. Sabi naman nung mga kakilala namin na while working pwede ka raw maghanap ng ibang job na talagang gusto and employer na pwedeng magbigay ng S pass sau..

TIA
mj

Jel said...

Hi TIA/MJ,

Yes, with AIL mas less ang chance na maoffload kyo. Make it seem na magbabarkada lang kyo going for vacation.

Regarding sa IT job mas madali maghanap d2 nun compared sa F&B or HRM jobs since kelangan pa nilang dumaan sa agency with placement fees. Pag IT just apply thru consulting or agency for IT (note that there will be no placement fee dapat d2 so pag may humingi syo magduda ka na). Depende din sa experience mo. Kung fresh grad ka lang kahit IT ka e mahihirapan kang maghanap ng work.

Hello
Thank you Jel for your response.
One last question – kasi meron na akong AIL, is it still possible that hindi ako ma approve sa immigration???? kasi longer ang stay ko doon (9 days)?
God bless!

hi jel,

I am a registered nurse d2 sa pinas yung employer ku is from abu dhabi meron na po akung license doon so basically kelangan ku nlg pumunta doon. I have an employemnt visa from my employer but the problem is hindi poea registered ang agency ku sa abu dhabi. Ang plan is tourist aku going to singapore and then meron aku connecting flight singapore-abu dhabi, wag ku raw ipapakita visa ku dito sa IO sa pinas, sa singapore IO ku nlg daw present once na sa line na aku for abu dhabi is it possible? and most likely hours lg po stay ku sa singapore and fly ng another plane going to abu dhabi tnk u so much. I would appreciate ur repli : ) and this is my second time po na offload po aku last OCT. 6 kasi wala aku invitation letter and my plan na po aku na mag pa escort 25k ang hinihingi if worst comes to worst wala na po aku choice please advise po : )

Jel said...

Hi,

If 2nd time ka na naoffload then i guess may nakatatak na sa Passport mo na naoffload ka na dati. So most likely makikita ulit ng IO yun kahit magpaescort ka pa. I'm not aware of this escort service but it sounds fishy to me. Usually they take advantage of desperate people.

So makikita tlga ng Phil IO yun whether you like it or not.

If you really want to go to SG you can take travel tours for 3 days with an established agency that way you have a letter from them or you will have a lot of people with you.

Jel said...

Also be wary of unregistered agencies. I strongly advice you go to POEA accredited agencies. Please don't be another victim.

I am planning to travel to SG early next year with my sister 47 yrs old and my mom 67 yrs old, most probably 3rd week of January 2012 for maybe 3 or 4 days holiday. I am an OFW and will be on leave during that time, as we always do short holidies yearly when i am on leave.
We do not know anyone from Singapore to give us an invitation letter, do you think the immigration would allow us? as i am hesitant to book our hotel and flights if that means we will end up getting denied by the immigration people.

Jel said...

Hi,

Personally i don't think madedeny kayo since matatanda na kasama mo. invitation letter is for those people who are "invited" by friends or relatives. If you don't have both then you need to provide details on where you're going to stay that's why an hotel booking is usually asked. Just be firm. Don't worry too much. As i've said most probably hindi kayo mahihirapan. Just in case bring your leave and Certificate of Employment. Bring pocket money not exceeding 10k pesos in cash (i'm not sure about the details of this rule).

Hi Jel,

I am currently working in SG, my BF went here to find a job. He stayed in SG for 2 months (Sept-Oct), was not able to find job here so he went back to PH. I will be having a 5-days vacation in PH in Nov and we had a plan for him to go back to SG with me.

He's 2-way ticket shows he will just stay in SG only for 6 days, as a tourist. Also he still has his company ID from his previous company in PH.

Have you heard same situation? Do you have any idea sa mga pwedeng itanong ng PH and SG IO sa kanya? For sure kasi magtataka ang IO bket siya babalik. Anu kya mgandang alibi? Kinakabahan ako for him.

Do you think makakatulong if kumuha ako or any of my friends here in SG ng authenticated IL for him?

Looking forward to your reply.

Many Thanks,
Anne

Jel said...

Hi Anne,

You don't need an IL since kasabay mo naman syang pumunta dito sa Singapore.
Reason is because BF mo sya and he wants to spend time with you for 1 week only.

Anonymous said...

hi, this is yuri. my boyfriend and i stayed at sg for 2 mos. and we're planning to comeback within 2 weeks because my bf has an IPA already, and my application on MOM is already on pending status. do u think io will allow us if we secure an ail? or it will be much better if we will depart together with our work pass holder friend? pls give us advise thanks

Jel said...

Hi Yuri,

You can do either or both. Just remember that PH IO doesn't recognize IPA. You should have a compelling reason why the both of you are going back to SG again after 2 weeks.

Anonymous said...

Hi Jel! Have you heard anyone who booked for 2-way ticket in Singapore Airlines but denied by our Filipino IOs?

Jel said...

Not that i recall.

frank said...

hi jel,

im frank and i really need your advise. going to my brother in uae and need to dropby in SG...last week kasi naoffload going to SG...then they gave a list of two documents that i should bring nextime in the immigration....(1)authenticated IL (2)photocopy of passport and Spass of my friend....the problem is hindi niya kaya makakuha kasi he is too busy in his work...first time ko umalis ng bansa then mag isa lng ako....i have my hotel reservation and 2-way ticket to SG...3 days ang duration. would it be enough to surpass the PH IO? free lance contractor lng ako sa electrical pero small time lng naman. i resigned my previous job.
.tnx

Jel said...

Hi Frank,

Kung wala naman maybe next time you can tell them na wala kang kakilala sa Singapore and you're just going for a short vacation since may hotel reservation ka naman. However baka hingan ka ng show money which i don't have experience with. Also kung wala ka pang previous history of travel to countries besides PH then baka hindi maniwala. So it's really up to you. Kung busy talaga yung friend mo then too bad.

Hello Jel..

I need help from you.. Kase I already have my ticket to SG. It's actually for 21 days kaya i assume na hihingian ako ng Invitation letter.. I asked him to make an invitation for me.. So nakakita kami ng blogs about sa "Invitation letter".. May nakita ko samples ng invi sa net and nabasa ko din na kelangan nya ipaauthenticate yun sa phil embassy sa SG, right?
Since it's my first time to travel most likely I have no idea how strict the immigration is.. And according sa isang blog na nakita ko, eto yun mga dapat nya dalahin sa Phil Embassy sa SG : IC or epass, His passport, pen, photocopy ng passport nya (ID page),photocopy ng passport ko and that costs S$42.50..
Tanong lang sana, pwede ba through email isend sakin yun invitation o dapat thru courier like fedex or dhl? Since may may seal or since notarized ng phil embassy yun????

ANd isa pa, 15thou pesos na show money okay na ba yun? Naiisip namin tuloy na umuwi sha para sabay kami punta don pero hindi practical since 8k plus ang roundtrip ticket sa ngayon..Kelangan ko ng mo dear..Thanks in advance!!
~annechu

Jel said...

Hi Annechu,

Dapat ipadala sayo yung original thru courier.

Ang alam ko e up to 10k pesos lang ang pwedeng dalhin max na cash. You can exchange the rest to other currency like SGD or bring credit card.

All we can do is prepare. It's really up to you and to the immigration officer na matatapatan nyo.

Annechu said...

Right jel.. Thanks! :)

Hello Jel,
I just read some of the questions and comments here. I also have some questions to you that might lessen my worries. Actually as of now i am working in Qatar but i already resigned here because I will transfer to Singapore I will arrive in Manila by November 27 and my boss will be expecting me to start my job in Singapore on 29 of November means i will only stay in the philippines for one day. We have a company policy here that i have to go back to my origin (manila) because i was hired in manila so i dont have a choice but to go back to manila. And from manila i have to travel going to Singapore to start my new job there. As of now everything are ok regarding my job in Singapore my company already book me a hotel which will be my temporary accomodation, my In-principle approval which an E-pass is also with me. I purchase a 2-way ticket from cebu pacific because i need to show there in immigaration that i will only go for a tourist in Singapore because i really dont have enough time to processed all the necessary documents in OWWA and POEA. My boss cannot wait for me. What do you think the best thing I need to do for me to avoid hassle in philippine immigration? I am a veteran OFW because i've been working in the middle east for more than 10 years. I was also thingking that maybe it might not be a big problem if i will convinced them that i will only go for a tourist in singapore because they will noticed in my passport that i just arrive 1 day ago on that time. Can you help me or tell me something that might ease my worries. Thanks

Jel said...

Hi,

Just don't tell them you know anyone here in Singapore else they will ask for IL. Just say after working for 10 years you deserve a little break. That's why you booked a hotel for x days. Just don't get intimidated and bring whatever tourists bring like maps, itinerary extra cash (not exceeding 10k php) and credit card. Bring Employee ID or Cert of Emp to show your currently employed. Good luck and let us know what will happen.

Annechu said...

Jel,
I have another concern.. SInce uuwi na si bf to pick me up.. So he's coming on the 17th and we will go there together on the 21st.. And my roundtrip ticket is for 21days.. Hindi ko na kelangan ng invitation right.. But then, since it's for 21 days. Do you think we will have a problem there? Thanks

Jel said...

Yes no need for IL. 21 days is normal since BF mo sya. It only make sense that you want to spend as much time as possible with him.

Im very glad there's a concern pinoy like u who even takes time answering questions khit paulit2 and reading diff experiences. Thanks for your help and time! More blessings to you!!

Just wana make kwento about my situation. I was working here and was planning to invite my son(less than 1yr old) with my mom and sister. I was planning to let them stay for 2months. My son already spent two mos. vacay here this year also. Then now since holiday is coming I want him to be here again and planning to apply for an extension again to make it 2 months stay. I already booked a 2 mos. ticket for the three of them.

Im worried about my sis. She already resigned from her previous job few months ago and now she's just waiting for a visa from another country. They cannot say when she will leave or start work so instead of waiting in the Phils I want her to be with us too.

Im getting their invitation letter at the PE. But Im just kabado na mhohold xa s immmig coz 2 mos. nga un ticket nla. ALthough i know that the IO will not accept such reasons n hnde kkyanin ng mom ko na dalhin anG baby ko alone, and it was her first time travelling by plane! I already sent them my passport & IC copy. Then the sealed IL im still thinking if email ko nlng b or need ko p tlga ipdala sknla. Since IL makes gastos na, then another gastos just for sending the orig copy. Coz last time n ngpunta ung baby ko d2 inemail ko lng dn ung scanned IL.

My sis current employer was not providing any contract or certificate yet since they dont know yet when she will leave but they are sending her salary monthly due to waiting for so long. So wala mpro2vide n contract or payslip or anything ung sis ko just to prove na she will not seek for job here.

What can u advise na iprovide p nya? we had a fam business pro hnde nmn nkpangalan sknya. any business cert o COE o contract wla xa mpro2vide. PLEASE HELP! I would also be posting again what happened pg and2 n sila to share my experience as well to help our kababayan din. THANKS!

Hi Raine,

Jel said...

You're talking about June 2012 right? If you read through the comments you should know by now what to do :) Since you already bought the ticket your only choice is to follow the tips you got from the comments.

Jel said...

Thanks.

Based on my experience its rare to see family members get deny specially pag group like your son, mother and sister. If they have same surnames mas ok. My mother-in-law and brother-in-law came here with no problems. Let the mother do the talking in immigration and let your sister carry your son. Remember that its not only your son your mother will be carrying but also luggages so it only make sense that your mother will need to take you sister along.

Authenticated IL needs to be in original form. If you want to get away with IL you need to go home and go back to SG along with them.

Jel said...

It's a family vacation so i don't find any reason to worry. Ingat lang kayo sa Johor Bahru.

Jel said...

You definitely can. Kahit sino kasama mo basta kasabay mo pumunta dito then you don't need an IL.

Hi, my colleague's Filipino wife and child are planning to visit Singapore next January for vacation. Is the invitation letter really necessary? If so, how do I go about having the embassy endorsing the invitation letter?

I have copies of the child's birth cert and the wife's passport & ID.

Thanks in advance for any assistance rendered.:)

Jel said...

Well most of the time traveling families don't experience inconveniences in Immigration. However if you really want to get an authenticated IL why the Father is not getting it?

jana said...

Hi Jana,

Yes i think she can place your 3 names in the invitation letter since magbabarkada kayo.

Jel said...

Hi Lora,

Most of the time, pag family members e hindi na hinihingan ng Authenticated IL. However kunan mo na rin just in case but tell them not to show it unless it's asked. At least next time alam mo na kung ano mangyayari.

Hi Jcam,

If ever you manage to come here in Singapore be wary of illegal recruiters. I don't think they're doing background checks in immigration unless you're already black listed.

thank u sir i'm hoping for your reply.. Godbless you in countless ways..:)

Jel said...

Hi Christine,

RN as in Registered Nurse? From what i gathered here, usually ang mga hospital dito sa Singapore e sa agency sila kumukuha ng Nurse. Cons nun is medyo malaki ang placement fee (around 150k php). Just remember that you're one of the thousands of Nurses looking for jobs here in Singapore so make sure you do your research first.

Hi jel, this is the first time i read your blog and i think this will help me. this is my situation .. my bf is singaporean citizen and i plan to go SG next year. (if ever i go there that is the first time we will meet) because we just met thru net... but dont think bad about me.. im not what you think. i have work here in manila in a trading company. so do you think it will help me to go there easily??? is it necessary that he will make invitation letter for me? he can not come here kasi he's busy with his work so we decided that i will go there instead of him here... help nmn. thanks. god bless

Jel said...

Hi,

Since may work ka naman sa pinas then you could go to tour agency and get some travel package. That way you won't need an invitation letter. It's better if you don't mention your Singaporean BF since immigration are on the lookout for possible human trafficking. I would also warn you that since na meet mo sya sa online to be extra careful at maraming modus operandi na mga nagpapanggap. Let your parents or close friend know every detail or better yet bring a friend along in your trip. Goodluck and godbless.

Hi DJ,

I think mountaineering is a valid reason specially if you've got mountaineering gear with you in the airport. However kung sasabihin nyo lang na Malaysia then they might ask why go to Singapore if you can go to Malaysia? You can probably go to Malaysia first then to Singapore.

hi Jel,

I'm really curious about this IL kasi it's one of the requirements by my airline, Tiger Airways http://www.tigerairways.com/sg/en/ph_immigration_req.php

I have a flight from DAVAO to singapore this feb.12. My boyfriend (danish) and I planned to meet there in Singapore to tour in the city for a few days. Then we also plan to go to Malaysia and Indonesia then back to singapore.

Where do I get my IL? None one of us live in Singapore. He will just meet me there as he will arrive a day earlier, then we start our backpacking.

do I still need an IL?? Also, I am earning money through online work because I'm a writer. So it's an irregular job. I have my savings though. What proofs do i need to show to get through IO?

I never intend to go to stay in singapore, malaysia, or malaysia. Thanks.

Jel said...

Hi Seneca,

If you don't know anyone then don't force yourself to get an IL. Bring some proof that you're earning your income through online whatever that may be. Other than that I'm not sure what else you can do.

Jel said...

Yung letter na yunbn to my knowledge is yung kukunin mong form dun sa embassy. May template na sila dun. I don't think you can just write a letter of your own then bring it to them to be authenticated.

You need to print a copy of his IC and Credit Card since the airline will look for it. Immigration don't check who purchased your tickets. If they ask you some bullshit questions just answer confidently and don't get intimidated. Always ask for the name of Immigration officer if they give you a hard time and report to DFA. Try to remember and record all conversations for later use.

Hi Justin,

You can only get an invitation letter for her in Philippine Embassy but you need to show proof that she's really your fiance. Jel said...

Hi,

They can track if they want to but they need to go to the office first. they don't do it unless your name is in No-Fly list, FBI watch list or those kinds of list. For simple citizens like us they won't bother to check on those. However i could be wrong. Also i heard mas strikto sa Clark. My friends here says that the embassy here said Invitation letter is applicable only to direct relatives (Mother, Father, Son or daughter and Fiance) so kahit GF or BF ndi pwede. Either you book a vacation trip via a Travel agency or go in as a tourist without invitation letter which means you don't have relatives in Singapore. If that lawyer plans to sue then it's his choice. Always try to get the names of the immigration officials you encounter. Keep us updated on how it goes.

You can bring that IL but don't show it unless you're asked to do so. Bring some proof of ownership of business and some financial proof as well

Jel said...

Hi Jasmin,

Unfortunately I don't know any lawyers. Both of you can contact Philippine Embassy in Singapore and she can also ask for help in non profit organizations like www.acmi.sg or www.home.org.sg or Migrante or Gabriella group in Philippines. She can also go to our churches here in Singapore like Novena. Keep us updated. You can share this on Facebook and I'll help you disseminate.

You can go to any ASEAN member country without visa and Invitation letter. Authenticated Invitation letter is for direct relatives (father, mother, wife, son, daughter, grandparents, in-laws) or fiance. In your case you'll just be visiting your friends. If immigration asks you questions about anything just be honest and don't get intimidated. But just in case they asked for proof that you're financially sound just bring documents regarding your business and some bank statements. However do not present them if you're not asked. Same thing with the IL they gave to you. Don't give them if they didn't ask for it. Regardless of you know someone or not here in Singapore it's your right to spend your hard earned money to travel the world.

hi jel..i dont have job here in the Philippines.. Im just 21 yrs old and will be travelling alone..what else should i bring in order to pass the Immigration matter..? Suppossed to be my bf will come here instead of me going there but he's here 2 months ago so we both agreed that ill go there for 4 days only.. do u think r/t ticket, passport, copy of hotel booking, and 300USD are ok?

Need ur help

Jel said...

Did you go to other countries before? If you did then you can use that as proof that you've been to other countries and came back. Other than that i can't think of anything else since immigration are specially cautious about single young unemployed female who is traveling alone.

HI jel..

this is Yhen, I'm planning to go to Singapore nextweek.. february 22-26 only..4 days only. but the problem is i don't have invitation letter because I dont know someone in singapore. The reason why i fly to singapore it's becuase my fiancee also will go there., feb 25th is his bday so we'll planning to meet there to celebrate..

He's from New York City..
He's here last december so we decided to meetin singapore.. do u think hotel booking is ok? no invitation letter.. just a r/t ticket, hotel booking, enough money 10K and a passport.. Ill be travelling alone, I dont have work in the philippines so he paid for all my expenses(online hotel booking, eticket)..it's my first time to travel.. im too young 21yrs old but we're engaged.. infact i have a ring on my finger.. if they want some proof, i can show them lots of our pics last december when he's here and also his finger with the same ring as mine..
do u think they will allow me to go to singapore? what else should i need?
I will not go to NAIA anymore.. just here in DAVAO AIRport immigration since my airline is tiger airways direct flight going to singapore..
i really need ur help jel..

will be nice hearing from u.
God bless..

hi jel,

By the way uuwi ako pra sunduin siya kasi i don't want to arrange a paper for DSWD clearance.I asked the phil.embassy here they told me na kailangan daw na authenticated. Worried lng kasi work permit holder ako,ung boss ko willing nmn mgbgay ng letter kso nga lang di nmn authenticate ng embassy dto s sg.ok lng b n wag ko n pa authenticate s embassy since bata lang nman at ksma nman niya ako pupunta dto at uuwi? stay siya dto s bhay for 1month. thanks...

Hello!

Hi Jenny,

You can always try but at your own risk. Ask your friend kung ano yung mga questions ng IO then prepare. Share to us also kung ano yung mga tanong ng IO. Basically you have to prove to them na babalik ka pa rin ng Pilipinas so they will ask questions and require you to submit documents. So better ask your friend since recently lang syang natanong.

Hello! I was offloaded :( Nasayang ang gastos namin lahat kasi matagal duration ng stay namin sa SG. Anyway, gusto ko lang makatulong kaya please remember these:

1. If possible, don't choose Clark kaasi mahigpit immigration nila dun. Better if sa Manila departure mo.

2. When booking a flight, make sure that it's only for a couple of days ( a week the most).

3. If sasabihin mo sa immigration officer na may work ka na wala naman pala kasi resigned ka na (just like what happened to me), make sure na kakausapin mo yung HR nyo para in case na tumawag immigration eh makapaghanda sila ng sasabihin. In my case, they called my former company then boom nalaman nila na resigned na ako.

5. Be confident. Relax. Good luck! :)

Thanks for Sharing.

after reading all the comments, i decided to share my experience last year when i went to Singapore as a tourist. I was offloaded not because I lack documents but it started when The IO noticed upon checking my passport that there was no stamped of departure when I visit A country in mid-east a month's back. I explained to them what happened but then i was told to go to their office, fill-up a form and explain again. The 2nd officer who interrogated me was a guy who was so rude( he said," teka lang may nagtext sa akin eh, i-text ko muna ito, though he knew that time was running out to board the plane. Then he said, ikaw gusto mo ba akong maging ka-text-mate?) and insisting that i was lying.I stood firm and told that there's no reason to lie, while upon checking he told me that I dont have any record of going out of the country for that particular time, i insisted that it was because an officer told us( we were a company of 4 when we traveled) that we proceed directly to x-ray to exit and board, in short by-passing the IO, hence no stamp for departure. He couldn't accept that it was their fault after all. Then he told me to go to the 3rd officer for final interrogation, this time i needed to really exposed my personal life and explain every details to her, then she finally said "ok, i understand now". So i was allowed to board, escorted me to the counter to explain everything to her colleague, but then time had ran out so yes, sadly I was not able to board the plane and had to rebook my flight, the guy IO couldn't look straight into my eyes and seemed guilty, grrrr! I really felt like i was bullied just because they are in that position, they will not spend some time to really listen to you and insist what they want to believe.
I will be returning to SG this April 28 for 10 days via Jetstar and PAL, got my hotel booking, tickets/itinerary, enough cash and confidence. BTW, i am also jobless as of the moment as i resigned from work only last December. MY BF is the one shouldering all the expenses too who is coming from Europe.

hi jel,

i want to ask, kasi babalik na aq sa SG this 2nd week..ng-OJT aq dun dati tapos ngayon pinapabalik aq ng dating company q, pro wla clang maiibibigay na invitation letter..so ginawa q is mg-bobook aq ng ticket na 4 days lng ung stay q dun..tapos magpapbook din po aq isa sa mga inn's dun..ok lng ba kahit hndi hotel??then anu ba dapat kng dalhin na supporting documents???pwd po ba ung IPA q dati?

Jel said...

Never show your IPA. They onjhly recognize valid work pass. Show documentations like inn or hotel bookings. Show sojme documents that proves that you've got a reason to come back to the Philippines like a Certificate of Employment, Company ID, Bank Account and the likes. However never show them unless you are asked to.

Hi jel good evening ask ko lng kung kailngn p nmin ng invitation letter coming from my husband?Pupunta kc kmi ng baby ko dis dec.sa sg..almost a month din kmi..Ngguluhn kc kmi kung ano ggwin nmin sa DMia kmi sasakay roundtrip ticket..tnx alot..waiting for your reply..

Jel said...

My first thought is that hindi nyo na kailangan lalo na at may baby kang kasama. Hindi naman sila naghihigpit as long as may maipakita kang proof like marriage license and birth certificate ng hubby mo. Pero to avoid the hassle in the immigration mas ok din na may nakaready kang Invitation letter. This letter is a form that Philippine embassy in singapore provides which your hubby needs to pay then send the original copy to you via post or courier. For details see the blog post again.

Anonymous said...

Hi I would just like to ask if ang husband ko ay Singaporean kapag pumasok ba ako sa Singapore hahanapan pa din nila ako ng invitation letter? Kinakabahan kasi ako baka harangin ako ng immigration.

Jel said...

Since singaporean husband mo then you must be a singapore citizen as well. Tama ba?

Anonymous said...

Dito kasi kami kinasal sa Pilipinas. Magkakaconflict ba iyon sa immigration. Kinakabahan ako sa immigration. lol. May trauma ata ako sa immigration. Nauna lang siyang bumalik kasi may work siya na naiwan sa SG so babalik ako magisa sa SG. I heard the strict sila kapag babae ka at alone ka lang nagtratravel.

Jel said...

You can bring your marriage certificate and invitation letter from your husband. He can get it fro Philippine embassy in Singapore. He needs to bring your marriage certificate as well

hi jel, hope you could find time to help me on this. my daughter's father invited us for an 8-day tour in SG (he has been working there for 2-3 yrs now). Im a full time mom to my daughter. here are docs we have:
-passports
-RT
-my daughter's birth certificate
-emailed IL with his scanned signature
-his scanned IC
The flight is scheduled 9PM, and we're going to stay in his place. Also, we're not married. Are these sufficient enough to pass an IO?

Sorry but I've got no access to internet most of the day d2 sa pinas. Since may kid kang ksama malaki chance nyo na ndi maharang. Just show proof na may current work ka sa pinas.

Hi jel!
Good day:) i've work in sg in 6months just a tep pass hndi ako tourist nun nung ng apply ako, by agency kmi nun.. Aug 23,2012 kmi nsa sg nun and nakauwi na kmi march 13,2013 bale 6 girls kmi nun. Right now aug. 2013 were planning to go back were only 4 girls nlng kc ung company na pngwork nmin dati, kinontak kmi now approved na kmi for spass .. Bale wala na kmi agency dto sa pinas, ppnta nlng kmi ng sg for work kso baka ma hold kmi sa immigration. Do we still need a IL just in case ma hold kmi???

Jel said...

Based on my experience IL is pretty much useless unless you can show some proof na hindi babalik ka ng PH like company id, certificate of employment or business registration number.

Also yung SG embassy authenticated IL is for direct relatives lang (Parents, child or siblings)

Hi jel,

I came across your page and very helpful ito s mga taong planning to go abroad.I wanted to ask few questions,as I will be travelling alone to singapore.my flight will be on sept 26-28,2013,i got a tour package from a travel agency,is there any possibility for me to be denied in the immig here? i have my passport, travel voucher, round trip ticket and show money of 900usd.I have stamps from saudi and just this year,i went to hk and macau...un nga lang, iam a nirse and iam unemployed.even nung ngtravel ako s hk and macau, unemployed din ako.do u think, pwd ako ma offload? Ano kaya pwd ko i reason out pag tinanong nila ako where ako kumukuha ng income? Iam into networking nga pla.thank u in advance :)

Jel said...

Hi Paula,

There's always a chance na ma-offload ka depending on your answers to the immigration officer. However i don't see any reason why they won't let you out of the country to exercise your given right to travel for vacation.

About your source of income just show your checks that your MLM issued to you or bank statements. If you're into networking then i'm sure you can bring proof that they're paying you. Source of income is a very basic question specially if you're currently unemployed so just do your due diligence in bringing every proof that you have one. Good luck and keep us updated.

Note: Have Bureau of Immigration hotline handy with you

Hello Jel,

Your blog, as well as the comments and your replies, are actually really helpful. I have a question though, regarding my friend. I'm meeting her iin SG on Sept. 21, 2013. This will be her second visit already. She visited Singapore last year for about two weeks. Then, she had an invitation letter and she departed from Cebu. This time around, due to time constraints with Cebu Pac, her flight is routed to Manila, so she will depart thru Naia. I'm quite concerned lang kasi na mas strict and IO's sa Manila compared to the ones in Cebu. Plus, she doesn't have an invitation letter since she will only stay there for 3 days, bavk agad by sept. 24. she's been to other asian countries but i'm not sure if the IO will look into that. she has a good employer in cebu. she works as an HR staff for a big call center company. do u think it's necessary to get an invitation letter kahit super short lang naman nang stay? please help and thank you for this blog of yours.:)

Jel said...

If she can get the invitation letter the better. If there's no time to get that then just tell her to bring all proof of employment or source of income.
